Tottenham receive positive prediction on Micky Van de Ven injury timeline
Tottenham endured three forced substitutions in their loss to Chelsea, but fortunately, the injury to Micky Van de Ven may not keep him sidelined for too long.
Both centre-backs were forced off for Tottenham again
On Sunday afternoon, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was bouncing. Spurs had established a shocking 2-0 lead against Chelsea and the atmosphere was ringing around the ground in a manner that hasn’t been seen in a few weeks.
This was until Cristian Romero pulled up and after trying to continue, was forced off with a new injury to his quad. The energy was sapped from the ground and this was arguably where Chelsea’s comeback began.
Brennan Johnson and Micky van de Ven followed Romero off the pitch in the second half. It is a sight that fans will be sick of, but there is hope that at least one of these injuries will not be for too long a period.
Micky van de Ven receives a positive injury prognosis
According to Physioscout on X, Micky van de Ven’s tightness in his hamstring should only keep him sidelined for a week.
Ange Postecoglou suggested the substitution was merely precautionary in his post-match interview and Spurs fans will hope there is no worse news to come.
Hearts stopped when Van de Ven signalled to the bench that he needed to be substituted, but hopefully, this was only Micky being cautious about his fitness and hoping to ensure his availability for matches to come.
The game against Rangers will prove difficult for Tottenham
With so many injuries across the defence, exacerbated by Djed Spence being unregistered for the Europa League, the game against Rangers is likely to be a stern test for Tottenham.
Ben Davies, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are likely to be absent, meaning that the starting centre-back pair may have to be Radu Dragusin and Archie Gray.
While Gray takes responsibility in any position he plays, he is not naturally a CB. With no other senior players available, it will be a test of Spurs’ resilience as a team in Thursday night’s game.
