Final Decision on ICC Champions Trophy to be Declared on THIS day
In between the ongoing dispute over Pakistan hoisting the Champions Trophy 2025, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to decide the next year’s mega tournament on Wednesday, November 11.
After the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed the ICC that the Indian team will not travel to Pakistan due to Government of India policy, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which holds the responsibility of hosting the marquee event, requested a written guarantee from the international organisation regarding hybrid model for upcoming ICC tournaments.
As per a report from IANS, PCB has decided to accept the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, where India will play their matches in Dubai and Pakistan will be hosting the other matches. In case the team qualifies, India will play the semifinals and the finals in Dubai as well.
“Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants a written assurance from the World body (ICC) regarding a hybrid model for the future international events to be hosted by India. Decision on Champions Trophy most likely by Wednesday,” sources told IANS.
The dates for the Champions Trophy 2025 are set for February 19- March 9. However, there have been difficulties since BCCI has stated that the Indian government has not approved the team to travel to Pakistan to play their matches.
