Razorbacks Run Past SEMO, 84-45
FAYETTEVILLE – Arkansas women’s basketball (6-5) used a 40-1 run, with 26 straight points, over a 15-minute period to take down SEMO, 84-45.
The Hogs were down by 12 heading into the second quarter after the Redhawks went 6-8 from beyond the arc. SEMO (1-6) opened the second with a layup and scored one point, a free throw from Briah Hampton, over the next 15:20 of game time.
In that same span, Arkansas produced 40 points and was led by Carly Keats who tied her career-high of 16 points in the second quarter alone. Keats shot lights out from three-point range and drilled four straight treys to score the most points in a quarter for a Razorback this season. SEMO was held to just two attempts in the second quarter and went 0-9 in the middle 20 minutes of the game.
Keats finished with 19 points for her breakout game of the season.
In addition to the run, the Hogs had a big day at the free throw line and shot 21-24 (87.5%). Izzy Higginbottom led the way with 5 makes, her fifth perfect performance at the line this season. The Razorbacks currently lead the SEC in free throw percentage (77%, 139-179).
Arkansas also dominated from down low and scored 38 points in the paint. Forward Vera Ojenuwa recorded her third double-double of the year with 13 points and a season-high 14 rebounds. The Hogs controlled the boards 54-29.
For SEMO, Zoe Best led the visitors in scoring with 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting and went 3-6 from three-point land.
The Hogs finished with four players in double figures: Keats (19), Higginbottom (18), Ojenuwa (13) and Danika Galea (10).
