Aldi Just Added Two New Chinese Food Items to Its Lineup & Shoppers Say They Taste Like 'They're From a Restaurant'

Chinese food lovers, it’s your lucky day. While nothing will truly replace your favorite takeout spot (or authentic cooking, of course), Aldi has two new Chinese food items that will make your heart sing: Bao buns!

Dedicated Aldi shopper and Instagram user @theamazingaldi spotted these on a recent trip to the retailer, and they come in the delicious flavors of BBQ Flavored Pork and Teriyaki Chicken. “Obviously I had to bring home both the flavors to try,” the influencer says in a video shared to Instagram.

For the unfamiliar, Bao buns (or baozi) are an Asian delicacy that combines a sweet, pillowy bun with flavorful meat. According to the School of Wok, these delicious treats are “renowned for being light and fluffy.” You can make your own recipe from scratch, but be prepared that it requires using yeast, hand-kneading it, letting it rise, and wrapping it with the meat filling inside, which is “the most difficult and delicate part of the process,” per Taste of Home. The end result is definitely delicious, but without the expertise (or the time), this pack of frozen Bao buns from Aldi are an easy substitute.

Aldi’s Bao buns, which are kept in the freezer section, are so easy to warm up. Just steam them for five minutes and serve! “All of a sudden I’m transported back to my favorite dim sum restaurant,” @theamazingaldi continues in the video. She breaks apart one of the buns to reveal the flavorful meat inside. “Seriously, they’re that good.”

In the comments, one shopper praised these tasty bites. “They’re soooo good ???? I ate them with sriracha,” one person confirmed. @theamazingaldi responded, “they are! Legit tastes like they’re from a restaurant.”
