'Multiple gunshots to head' by officer kills Vancouver man, 45
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- The 45-year-old Vancouver man killed by police on December 4 died from "multiple gunshot wounds" to the head, the Clark County Medical Examiner said Tuesday.
Adam Grant Gunderson was shot by Vancouver police outside a loading dock at the Safeway on Southeast Mill Plain Boulevard around 11 p.m. that night. Authorities said Gunderson and one of the three responding officers got into a physical fight, which led to the shooting.
Beguelin Flores was identified as the officer who shot and killed Gunderson.
Gunderson was pronounced dead at the hospital. The officer sustained undisclosed injuries, officials said. No other injuries were reported.
The investigation is being led by the Office of Independent Investigation, a team that officially launched operations just days before the shooting.
The OLL said they plan to release their findings in a report within 120 days and told KOIN 6 News the prosecutor will decide what charges, if any, are brought.
All three officers involved remain on leave, which is standard protocol during the investigation.
