Amid the growing discourse around Postecoglou’s future, Alan Pardew, speaking on talkSPORT, offered an unexpected name for consideration should Tottenham decide to part ways with their current manager.
Pardew emphasised the importance of looking for fresh and untarnished managerial talent to rejuvenate a struggling side.
He said: “Listen, I personally would go for somebody who is untarnished. You sometimes have to look at young managers and give them a chance.
“Michael Carrick I think is doing a great job at Middlesbrough, I really do. If I was a Premiership club, I would seriously have him on the list. But we are not there in that moment by the way, because Ange is still in the job.”
Patience could be key to Tottenham’s progress
While Alan Pardew’s suggestion of Michael Carrick is undoubtedly interesting, Tottenham’s problems run deeper than the manager’s tactics or decisions.
The club’s struggles this season can partly be attributed to a less-than-stellar summer transfer window, leaving Postecoglou to work with a squad that has glaring deficiencies in key areas.
