Tottenham goalkeeper has more goals and assists this season than Phil Foden
Josh Keeley is having a fabulous time on loan at Leyton Orient, with the on-loan Tottenham goalkeeper adding an assist to his recent FA Cup goal.
Josh Keeley is getting great experience away from Tottenham
After impressing between the sticks for Tottenham’s Under-21 side during the first half of last campaign, Keeley spent the second half of last season on loan at non-league side Barnet in January.
The goalkeeper gave an excellent account of himself at Barnet and his performances saw Leyton Orient secure him on loan back in the summer.
The youngster had to be patient in his initial few months with the O’s, but he is now getting regular game time for the League One side and is impressing between the sticks.
Josh Keeley picks up an assist and a clean sheet
A little over a week ago, the 21-year-old hit the headlines for scoring a late equaliser in the FA Cup second-round clash against Oldham Athletic.
The Spurs man has now followed that up with an assist as Orient came away with a 2-0 win over Wigan Athletic in a League One clash at the Brick Community Stadium on Saturday.
This was the Spurs man’s fifth clean sheet of the season in just eight League One appearances so far this season.
That goal and assist in the past month means Josh Keeley has more domestic goal contributions than Man City playmaker, Phil Foden, this season. Foden has just one assist in England (although he has scored a few and assisted in the Champions League).
Could Keeley be recalled by Tottenham?
Spurs have a bit of a goalkeeping emergency at the moment, with Guglielmo Vicario out of action with a fracture on his ankle.
There have been suggestions over recent weeks that Tottenham will look to enter the market for a new goalkeeper in January.
However, one would expect that the club are also mulling over the possibility of recalling Keeley if such an option does exist. The youngster is certainly doing all he can to catch the eye of Ange Postecoglou and the decision-makers at Tottenham.
