ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Happy Wednesday! Meteorologist Matt Mackie says it will be quite rainy this Wednesday but on the bright side, it'll be a bit warmer than recent temperatures with highs in the 50s!
The young girl who fell through Washington Park Lake over the weekend has died. Also, Troy Police are investigating a car crash and shots fired incident that happened near Seventh Avenue and Park Avenue. These stories, and more, are in your five things to know this morning.
1. Girl passes away after falling through ice on Washington Park Lake
Two children were pulled from the lake on Saturday. Police said a 12-year-old boy tried walking across the lake toward the lake house when he fell through the ice. An 11-year-old girl saw him fall through the ice and attempted to save him but also went into the water.
2. Troy Police investigating car crash, shots fired
Details are limited, but police said it happened in the area of Seventh Avenue and Park Avenue in Troy. Troy Police said no one was hit by gunfire, but they did find a man who appeared to have been injured in the car crash.
3. Village provides update on Whitehall water situation
The village of Whitehall released an update on Tuesday morning at around 10 a.m. about the declaration of a state of emergency and a Sunday evening water shutoff. The state of emergency is still in effect, but the village was able to slowly fill the water tank at the drinking water treatment facility overnight.
4. Asylees from New York City begin to depart Albany hotels
The contract with DocGo, the company hired by New York City to take care of migrants, expired at one area hotel, Tuesday night. NEWS10 has learned new information on the process for the migrants left behind.
5. 102-year-old local veteran hero laid to rest
A local hero met his final resting place on Tuesday. Sir Kenneth Bailey was 102-years-old and died two months shy of his 103rd birthday. Family members shared memories of his legacy.
