New date set for Underwood clemency hearing

0

OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — The Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board has scheduled a new date for death row inmate Kevin Underwood's clemency hearing after postponing the hearing on Monday.

Underwood, who was convicted for the 2006 murder of 10-year-old Jamie Rose Bolen, is set to be executed on Thursday, December 19.

Underwood sued the Pardon and Parole Board in federal court on Wednesday, December 4, over its plans to move forward with his clemency hearing after two Pardon and Parole Board members resigned.

His attorneys argued he deserves a fair opportunity to present his case for clemency to a five-member parole board, but a judge denied it.

A stay was then granted on Monday, December 9, and the clemency hearing was postponed.

According to court records, Underwood's clemency hearing is now scheduled for Friday, December 13.
