Albany bakery closing after two years on Lark Street
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Nyx; A Scratch Baking Co., located at 290 Lark Street in Albany, is closing its doors after two years. Owner Shannon Dowen-Ronda made the announcement in a Facebook post on December 10.
"I’m closing for the reason most small businesses close: money," Dowen-Ronda told NEWS10. "Because the cost of everything is increasing and business is not. I’ve had so many issues inside and out of the shop, costing precious time and money."
Dowen-Ronda started Nyx in 2021 by selling her products at farmer's markets, specialty markets, and online. She then opened the storefront on Lark Street in December 2022. The bakery sells a variety of treats including cookies, cakes, cupcakes, babka, muffins, bagels, scones, and more.
Nyx's last day will be December 31. Dowen-Ronda said she doesn't have any set plans after that, but there are a few options she's thinking over.
