0

An 83rd minute goal by Reece Evans gave Queen's a win over Dundee in SPFL Reserve League and moved the Spiders into second position one point behind leaders Kilmarnock but with two games in hand.

Liam McLeish s fired Queen’s into the lead in 12 minutes.

Finlay Allan levelled the score for Dundee in the 40th minute.

Lochinch was shrouded in a freezing fog and low temperatures for yesterday’s SPFL Reserve League game. The mist was so low it was difficult to see across the pitch to the dug-outs.

Liam McLeish kicked the game off for the Spiders with Liam McVey and Jamie Bradley challenging for dominance in midfield against a fast and pressing Dundee side.

After an opening period of chess, Queen’s began to make in-roads into the Dundee defence. Rocco Hickey-Fugaccia on the left and Timam Scott on the right were getting behind the Dens Park back line and delivering probing balls into the six-yard box.

In the 11th minute Timam Scott raced past three defender and delivered a cross which was met by Liam McLeish. Unfortunately, Liam’s header sailed past the post, but it delivered a warning to the Dundee side.

One minute later Queen’s went in front. This time, down the left, Rocco Hickey-Fugaccia met a through ball from Max Thompson, got to the bye-line before cutting the ball back for Liam McLeish to step onto and knock the ball home for 4 yards out. A well created and taken goal.

Two minutes later Dundee broke down the left-wing allowing Brayden Bruce to fire in a shot which just missed the target.

The Spiders were well in charge of the game, dominating possession, but not really creating many scoring opportunities.

In the 36th minute Timam Scott cut inside and had a shot which looked goal bound but was cleared off the line by a Dundee defender.

Five minutes from half-time Dundee were level. Another fast break down the left saw the ball reach Finlay Allan. The Dundee number 9 sped into the box and drilled a low shot past Sam Kane for the equaliser.

A minute later Lewis McKelvie, in goal for Dundee, brough off a fine save for a Rocco Hichey-Fugaccia shot from the edge of the box

Half-time: Queen’s Park 1 Dundee 1

The second half started at a really high tempo with both sides pushing for control. The ball was getting moved around the pitch at quite a speed but with neither side causing any real danger.

Tyrece McDonnell now on and on the left wing was attempting to create space and Lennon Connolly was working hard in the middle to keep possession.

Just when it was beginning to look like a draw would be the result, Reece Evens scored a great goal in the 83rd minute. Good play down the left by Tyrece McDowall resulted in the ball being played into Reece Evans. Reece controlled the ball, spun round and smashed a low shot under the keeper from 10 yards out
