Kento Hatanaka suffers back injury,  forced to pull out of bout

0
Earlier today the Hatanaka boxing Gym announced that the scheduled bout between once beaten hopeful Kento Hatanaka (15-1, 10) [畑中建人] and Thai visitor Weerawat Noolae (6-2, 3), has been cancelled at short notice.

The bout, which was set to headline this Saturdays’ card at International Conference Hall, Nagoya, has been scrapped just days before it was set to take place due to Hatanaka suffering a back injury in sparring, in what was reportedly the final sparring session before the contest.

The bout was supposed to be Hatanaka’s first since losing the WBO Asia Pacific Flyweight title to Thailand’s Thananchai Charunphak (25-2, 15), who subsequently fought for the WBO world title just a few months after beating Hatanka.

Thankfully the show will still go ahead, with the other bouts essentially moving up a place in the proverbial pecking order.

Notably Hatanaka will be in attendance and will apologise to the fans in person at the venue on December 14th.
