Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Offered a Staggering Amount To Appear on Screen Together Again
It’s no secret that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt aren’t on the best of terms after their divorce. They’ve spent the last eight years in and out of the courtroom battling everything from child custody to the ownership of their French winery. Still, one person in Hollywood is trying to broker peace between them with a big, fat check.
Filmmaker Danny Rossner, who has reportedly raised $60 million for his next project, is offering the former dynamic duo a “blank check” to star in his next film. He told Page Six, “Right now, I think, Brad Pitt’s in the $20 to $25 million range [per movie] and Angelina Jolie is in the $15 million range. In the 50-percent range above their going rate is what we’re prepared to offer.” That’s a sweet price for an industry that has been cutting back on celebrity salaries.
The storyline from Rossner’s movie might have Pitt and Jolie saying, “Immediately no.” It’s a World War II romance set at the Hotel Martinez in Cannes, France. Pitt would play the real-life hotel owner, Emmanuel Martinez, and Jolie would play the seductive mistress, Emma Digard. And of course, there’s a “torrid” love scene. As ambitious as this may sound, we doubt it’s ever going to happen — just look at what happened at the Venice Film Festival in August.
The organizers made sure to keep the two feuding exes apart at all times — it was a coordinated effort. Venice Film Festival’s artistic director Alberto Barbera told Vanity Fair ahead of their appearances that Jolie would be long gone before Pitt arrived. “Yes, of course. Angelina will be on the first day, on Thursday the 29, and she will leave right after with [Maria director] Pablo Larraín to go to Telluride,” Barbera explained. “So, Brad will arrive only on Saturday, to Venice. There is no way that they can cross each other at the Lido.”
It also seems insensitive to try and reunite Jolie with Pitt after accusing him of domestic violence against her and several of their six children. Her affidavit is in the FBI report and her subsequent court filings from the alleged 2016 incident. The 49-year-old actress seems to want to stay far away from Pitt and that wish should be respected. It doesn’t matter that the former couple had mad chemistry in the 2005 film, Mr. & Mrs. Smith — those days are gone.
That major detail doesn’t seem to be deterring Rossner one bit. “Guaranteed success if they come on,” he claimed. “There’s not even a second place. It’s a slam dunk with them.”
It’s probably going to be a hard pass from Jolie and Pitt.
