Tottenham have made big plans regarding Heung-min Son as speculation continues to intensify over the forward’s future.

Son’s current deal runs out at the end of the season but Tottenham are expected to activate the option to extend it until the summer of 2026.

It has emerged over recent weeks that some Saudi Pro League clubs are plotting a move for the forward next summer, while Galatasaray are also expected to make a move to sign the Tottenham man in January.

However, just a few days ago, the 32-year-old’s agent denied these transfer rumours and revealed that the negotiations with Spurs are not yet over.

Tottenham’s plans for Heung-min Son

However, GiveMeSport have said that internally at Tottenham, they have started looking for Son‘s long-term successor.

While there is no indication that the South Korean is going to leave the club any time soon, the club are said to be planning for life after Son, given that their captain is now entering the latter stages of his career.

Even though Yang Min-hyeok will arrive at Hotspur Way soon, the 18-year-old is seen as one for the future, with Tottenham’s recruitment department looking for a wide option who can immediately strengthen the first-team.

What Ange Postecoglou has said about Son

Son has fallen short of his usual very high standards so far this season, but he has still scored five goals and provided four assists across all competitions.

There is a feeling among some Tottenham fans that the forward may be past his best, but that suggestion was shut down by Ange Postecoglou, who backed the forward to produce the goods for his side this season.

When asked about the claims that Son is no longer as good as he once was, the Australian said last week: “I think there were questions about Mo Salah maybe a year or so ago. I would be wary about doing that, but it might help me if you write him off. Go for it!

“I do not see that in Sonny, I still think he has got a hell of a lot of quality and from a physical standpoint, the way he looks after himself, I do not see his abilities diminishing just due to the age factor at the moment. I do not see that.

“He has had a bit of a disrupted start this year where he has had a couple of setbacks where he has not played regularly. I think with Sonny the more regularly he plays, the increase comes in that output. So the answer is no, I do not think so, and I would be wary about writing him off.”
