IND v AUS: KL Rahul’s batting position likely to get Shuffled in the Gabba Test of Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25
India’s star wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul, who came in to open the innings for India in the two Tests against Australia is most likely going to bat in the middle order in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma gave up his spot as opener and came to bat in the middle order, but his experiment backfired horribly as he just scored 3 and 6 runs in the two innings of the Adelaide Test.
KL Rahul had scored 103 runs in the first Test match against Australia, and scored 44 runs in the second Test where India got wrapped up for just 80 runs in the first innings.
After the poor batting performance of India in the pink-ball Test, Australia defeated the visitors by 10 wickets and levelled the series 1-1. Now both the teams will face each other in the third Test, which will begin December 14.
When the team was engaged in the practice sessions for Gabba Test, there were indications that Rohit will go back to his usual opening spot for the upcoming match.
If Rohit Sharma opens the innings along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul will result in coming in at No. 6 in the Gabba Test. The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy is very important for India as the result of this series will determine India’s chance of entering the World Test Championship (WTC) finals, which will be held in England next year.
