You better believe Pens Points is here to help you wake up on this Thursday morning.

For the third and final time this season, the Pittsburgh Penguins and Montreal Canadiens will square off with the Penguins looking for the season sweep after winning the two previous meetings between the two sides. It’s been tough sledding for both teams so far this season as both sit near the bottom of their respective divisions.

Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM and will be broadcast on Sportsnet Pittsburgh.

Pens Points...

Injuries have started taking their toll on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who are currently without four starting defensemen. Those injuries led to a pair of blowout losses last week but they stemmed the bleeding with a blowout of their own. [Pensburgh]

There’s no doubt the superstars on the Colorado Avalanche roster had their way with the Penguins on Tuesday night, but they were hardly the only factor that led to the Penguins demise in the loss. [Trib Live]

Boos rained down from PPG Paints Arena late in the Penguins loss to the Avalanche and they didn’t fall on deaf ears. Captain Sidney Crosby was keenly aware of the boo birds presence and was none to happy to hear them. [Sports Illustrated]

Tuesday night wasn’t a total wash for the Penguins as they did battle back after trailing 3-0 at one point. The failed comeback effort was started by Cody Glass, who is healthy and starting to make an impact in his new role. [Trib Live]

Sometimes a change of scenery is what struggling players need and that seems to be the case for Philip Tomasino. Since coming over from the Nashville Predators, Tomasino has boosted the Penguins lineup and turned his game around. [The Hockey News]

NHL News and Notes...

There are storylines everyone predicts that will come to fruition and then there are those that no one saw coming. The latter of those is what makes sports great and the 2024-25 NHL season has its fair share of unforeseen happenings. [Bleacher Report]

Former Penguin player Alex Nylander was waived by Toronto yesterday. Nylander has no points in five games with the Maple Leads this season. [Daily Faceoff]
