New stadium in Daejeon to host KBO 2025 All-Star Game
The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) announced that the new Daejeon Baseball Dream Park will host the All-Star Game 2025. Commissioner Koo-youn Heo signed the agreement with Daejeon Mayor Jang-woo Lee on Monday, December 9.
The new stadium will be the home of the Hanwha Eagles. Construction broke ground in March 2023, and the new venue will seat 20,000 fans. The metropolitan city of Daejeon aims to revitalize the old city centre. Daejeon, located 140 kilometres south of Seoul, is the country's fifth-largest metropolis, with a population of 1.5 million.
The Hanwha Eagles have played all of their 39 seasons at the Hanwha Life Eagles Park, a 12,000-seat stadium they sold out 47 times in 2024 despite missing the postseason.
The league also announced that the Kiwoom Heroes posted star second baseman Hyeseong Kim. The deadline for Major League Baseball (MLB) teams willing to sign Kim is Jamuary 3, 2025.
