Alasdair Gold reveals main reason Spurs squad is still behind Ange Postecoglou
We have heard reports over recent days that the Spurs squad is still fully behind Ange Postecoglou and Alasdair Gold has now provided one main reason why that is still the case.
Ange Postecoglou a popular figure in the Spurs squad
When results start to sour at clubs, we usually see a breakdown in the relationships between the players and the manager.
That has happened at Tottenham quite regularly over the last few years under Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, in particular. So, why is it not the case at the moment under Ange Postecoglou?
In fact, reports indicate that the squad believe that the Australian is still the right man to bring success to N17 and believes that the main issue plaguing the side is a lack of squad depth.
Why Spurs squad loves playing for Ange Postecoglou
Gold has now backed up the information, explaining that the 59-year-old can count on the support of the dressing room.
The journalist explained that the Tottenham squad loves the style of football that Postecoglou has implemented and the way he addresses them during meetings.
Gold said on his YouTube channel: “I still feel that the players, and I think this is from what I’m hearing as well, that the players are still really behind Postecoglou’s way.
“It’s a way of playing that players will love, it is an attacking style of football, it’s a style of football that, as we said before, is kind of what they grew up loving about the game.
“He has kind of his way with the players, and the key little moments that he speaks to them that, I think, really keeps them onside. And that seems to wear, which is important for him.”
Spurs players have expressed their support publicly
It is not just reports from unnamed dressing room sources that have thrown their support behind Postecoglou, but there have also been public statements from the squad backing him.
The most decisive of those came from Cristian Romero, who declared that he and his teammates love working with the Australian and his staff.
The Argentine said a few days ago about his boss: “He’s a great coach. We saw it in the first season. In this second one, we’ve suffered a lot of injuries.
“Players are the first ones to be criticised, then if we lose 10 games, the staff can be changed, but nobody talks about what is actually happening.
“We are very happy with this staff, me and my colleagues. We love how they work and the football they try to play. We’ll try to move on quickly.”
