One person injured, another arrested after shooting in Logan County
LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — One person has been arrested and another was taken to the hospital after a shooting near S Bryant Road and Shelly Lane in Logan County on Thursday afternoon.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office says a man shot his roommate at the house they share together south of Guthrie. The suspect then jumped out of the window and ran to their neighbor's house.
Authorities also tell News 4 that OSBI is being contacted.
After speaking with neighbors, they are sad to hear what happened and hope the victim is okay.
"It's unfortunate that it escalated," David Pittman, neighbor said.
Neighbors in a tight knit community came together after hearing someone was shot inside a home along Shelley Lane in Guthrie.
"It's kind of concerning, I feel pretty bad for what's going on with him," Pittman said.
Pittman says he knows the people involved, and while he says they have some issues, nothing like this should have ever happened.
"You get into scenarios where some people, you know them growing up and see how they are, how they are treated and weren't given a fair shake in life," Pittman said.
Logan County Sheriff Damon Devereaux, says the shooting happened around 1:30 Thursday afternoon between two roommates.
"On our arrival, we made contact with the person that had been shot," Sheriff Devereaux said. "The roommate was also there on scene. We got two individuals involved inside the house."
He says the victim jumped out a window after being shot and ran to a neighbors house before calling 911.
"The person that actually shot also ran next door as well," Sheriff Devereaux said. "The person with the gunshot is being transported to a local hospital. We have the other individual detained at this time for questioning."
He adds, the person shot is expected to live.
No names have been released and they are still in the early stages of the investigation.
Pittman hopes nothing like this will happen again.
"You see him trying to get away from that struggle and to be subjected to a situation where he has to make a decision like that, it's kind of hard," Pittman said.
The alleged shooter was arrested.
