COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- One Ohio State Buckeye was honored Thursday as the best center in college football for the season.

Seth McLaughlin was awarded the Rimington Trophy as top center during the College Football Awards ceremony.

The 6-foot, 4-inch, 305-pound senior from Buford, Georgia, missed the last two games of the season after tearing his Achilles during practice before the Indiana game.

McLaughlin was key in a Buckeyes offense that finished the season averaging 36.5 points per game.

McLaughlin is also joined by two other Buckeyes as members of the Walter Camp All-American team. Safety Caleb Downs and McLaughlin are first-team selections while running back Jeremiah Smith lands on the second team.

Downs, a 6-foot, 205-pound sophomore, finished the regular season with 33 tackles and 28 assists.

The 6-foot, 3-inch, 216-pound Smith, a freshman, finished the regular season with 934 yards on 57 catches with 10 touchdowns.

The Buckeyes will play the first-ever December game at Ohio Stadium when the team hosts the Tennessee Volunteers on Dec. 21 in the first round of the College Football Playoffs.
