Quality Street slammed over ‘worst EVER Xmas selection’ as shoppers accuse choc giant of ‘actively mocking them’

QUALITY Street fans have slammed this year’s controversial Favourite Golden Selection, which features only Toffee Fingers and Caramel Swirls.

The limited-edition tin has been slammed as a “tooth destroying” disappointment by critics.

On Reddit, one user fumed: “These are arguably the worst lot out of the entire selection!

“I feel like they are actively mocking us!!”

Another added to the pile on, saying: “These were so bad that my family members call each other the toffee penny as an insult.”

The complaints didn’t stop there.

Many fans aired frustrations over the lack of some long time favourites in the standalone packaging.

One user lamented: “Why oh why do they never make a Green Triangle package?”

Another added: “If they made a Green Triangles & Caramel Barrels tin, it would essentially be a licence to print money.”

However, not everyone agreed with the criticism of the popular brand.

Some fans rushed to defend the Toffee Fingers and Caramel Swirls.

One wrote: “Those are the best of the Quality Street-what are you on about?”

While the Favourite Golden Selection may have divided opinion, fans of Quality Street’s traditional range still have options.

You can grab standalone favourites like the Green Triangle, The Purple One, and Coffee Crème in specialised cartons, crackers, or personalised pouches at select retailers, including John Lewis and Waitrose.

John Lewis, in particular, offers a popular pick-and-mix service, allowing you to fill a tin entirely with your favourite chocolates.

While personalised tins are off the table this year, shoppers can still purchase the £12 non-customised version and choose from the classic 12 sweets, including Strawberry Delight, Orange Crème, and Toffee Penny.

This year, Nestle has introduced paper tubs in select Tesco stores as part of a trial, marking a significant shift toward sustaiability.

The paper tubs are designed to be fully recyclable, but plastic and metal options remain widely available.

Nestle has also reintroduced the fan favourite Coffee Crème for the second year running.

While it’s no longer in standard tubs, fans can still find it at John Lewis pick-and-mix counters or in limited-edition crackers for £5.50.

Festive bargains for Quality Street Lovers

Home Bargains: Selling the retro 813g metal tins are jus t£7.99, cheaper than Tesco and Aldi’s plastic tubs.

Sainsbury’s: Nectar Card holders can snag the tin for £8, down from £12.

Morrisons: Offering two 600g tubs for £7 (£3.50 each), exclusively for More card members.

Lidl: Lidl Plus members can grab two tubs for £8 or buy one for £4.49.
