One Big Takeaway From Disappointing Bruins Loss Vs. Kraken

The Boston Bruins continued their five-game road trip with a 5-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Thursday night at Climate Pledge Arena.

The Black and Gold were chasing the score just 24 seconds into the contest and couldn’t recover, dropping their second straight game.

David Pastrnak put the Bruins at a disadvantage when he was whistled for a high-sticking double-minor against Jamie Oleksiak just 16 seconds into the first period. Oliver Bjorkstrand made Boston pay with his 10th goal of the season.

After killing off the second half of the double-minor, Tyler Johnson put the Bruins shorthanded again at 3:10, not allowing Boston to get into game rhythm early in the opening frame. Seattle took a 2-0 lead midway through the first when Jaden Schwartz lit the lamp for the eighth time this season.

Brad Marchand cut the lead in half in the second period when the Bruins were awarded a penalty shot.

The captain’s 12th goal of the season got the Bruins within one. However, the Kraken scored three unanswered goals in the third period to split the season series with Boston.

The Bruins will look to get back into the win column when they travel to Vancouver to take on the Canucks on Saturday night. Puck drop from Rogers Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET. You can watch the game, following an hour of pregame coverage, on NESN.
