Albany Academy boys basketball improves to 4-0, gashing Green Tech

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- In a battle between two of Albany's premier boys basketball programs - Albany Academy and Green Tech - the Cadets of Albany Academy came out in full force Thursday night, besting the Eagles, 57-41, to improve to 4-0 on the young season.

Albany Academy's Ras Elijah Godbolt lit up the gym at Russell Sage College, pouring in a game-high 18 points. He scored seven of those in the final two minutes of the opening quarter to propel the Cadets to an early, 21-8 advantage.

Green Tech responded well in the second quarter, and had cut the margin back to single digits with time winding down in first half. But Albany Academy's Jack Louridas buried a three-pointer seconds before the second-quarter horn went off, seizing the Cadets a 34-22 edge and a lot of momentum heading into the locker room.

They picked right up at the outset of the third quarter where they left off at the break, starting the second half on a 7-0 run. Five of those points were scored by Godbolt, who drilled a triple at the 4:11 mark that led to a Green Tech timeout, as the Cadets had opened up a 41-22 lead. They'd roll from there to the 57-41 win.

Albany Academy (4-0) continues its tour of Section II squads on Friday, Dec. 20, with a road test against Shaker. Green Tech (1-1) returns to action Saturday to take on Pope Francis Prep.
