DFC IN THE COMMUNITY: UPDATE
An update on Dundalk FC’s community activity, from our Football and Social Responsibility (FSR) Officer Aoife Burns.
Not Around Us School Football Blitz
We welcomed 4th, 5th and 6th Class from St. Malachy’s Boys’ National School, Redeemer Boys’ National School and St. Nicholas Monastery National School for our first ever Not Around Us School Football Blitz in conjunction with Healthy Ireland at Oriel Park in November.
The Not Around Us campaign is to try and denormalise smoking and vaping for the next generation. We had just over 150 boys participate in the school blitz where they played some friendly matches against each other, learned about the Not Around Us campaign, participated in a colouring competition and to finish the event we had some hot food.
The event was a great success and we look forward to inviting some girls’ schools to our next Not Around Us Blitz in 2025.
Toy Drive
Dundalk FC and the Shed Side Army have come together to hold a Toy Drive from Thursday 12th December through to Sunday 15th December, from 9am to 9pm each day, to collect new toys for children aged 0-16 years old. If you are in a position to donate, please do so – the drop-off boxes are located in the entrance of both doors in the Youth Development Centre.
Community Clean-Up
Thirty adults from the National Learning Network Centre volunteered to come up to Oriel Park to do a community clean-up last month, where they helped tidy up the grounds across two Mondays. Thank you to all involved in the clean-up.
Football for All Blitz
We also welcomed five Adult Services as we held our first Football for All Blitz in the indoor pitches at Oriel Park in November.
Prize Winners: Climate Captains Survey
Congratulations to Chris McKinnon who won the signed Dundalk FC jersey, Kayleigh Sullivan who won the Dundalk FC signed boots and Janet Mooney who won the Credit Union Hamper from our recent Climate Captains Survey.
