Max Strus won’t be available Friday, Evan Mobley might be
The Cavaliers will have to wait a little longer for Strus’s return.
Max Strus is close to making his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. That date, however, is still unknown. Strus was expected to debut against the Washington Wizards on Friday. That won’t be happening as he’s officially listed as out on the injury report.
Strus has been practicing with the Cavs and the Cleveland Charge recently. That is a huge step forward even if he isn’t available for games just yet. Strus hasn’t played at all this season.
Evan Mobley could be available. He injured his ankle in the second quarter in the loss to the Miami Heat. He didn’t believe the injury was serious and that appears to be the case as he’s officially listed as questionable for Friday’s contest.
Mobley has been the Cavs second-best player this season. He continues to take steps forward as a scorer while being arguably the best defensive player in the league. You’d like to see him return to the lineup as soon as possible so that he can continue to build the momentum he created from his 41-point explosion last week.
Isaac Okoro could also be making his return to the lineup after missing two games with a left knee contusion.
The Wizards will be short-handed. They will be without Kyle Kuzma (ribs), Malcolm Brogdon (hamstring), and Corey Kispert (ankle). Kuzma and Brogdon are second and third on the team in points. Their absence could be detrimental to a team that has been one of the worst in NBA history.
