Rhode Island man indicted for alleged ATM theft in Greene County

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- A Rhode Island man was arraigned Thursday on an indictment charging him with interstate transportation of stolen property. David Degrasse, 54, of West Warwick, Rhode Island is currently being held at the Albany County Correctional Facility pending a trial.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, Degrasse allegedly transported about $9,300 stolen from an ATM in Greene County to Connecticut on April 27, 2023. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Carla Freedman, state police and Craig Tremaroli, Special Agent in Charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

If found guilty, Degrasse faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000. He also faces a probation sentence of up to three years, after release.

The FBI and State Police are investigating the case. It is also being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Reiner.
