How Can India qualify for WTC finals 2025 if Gabba Test gets washed off? Details
Rain might work as spoiler in the ongoing third Test match between India and Australia. Continuous rain caused Day 1 of the game getting called off after just 13 overs were bowled and Australia scored 28/0. The rain unfortunately continued non-stop, which caused the officials to call off the match. There is a strong possibility of the entre match getting washed out according to the forecast.
Indian team might not want this scenario to happen, because such an outcome will seriously affect their qualification in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 finals. A washout will mean loss of important points, hence affecting their chance of securing a place in the final.
If the current Test gets called off, it will be declared a draw. This will leave the series at 1-1 as two matches will remain. In such case, India will have to win both the remaining matches to automatically secure their place in WTC final against South africa.
However, if India manages to win the series 2-1, their qualification will then depend on the outcome of Sri Lanka v Australia series in late January. Sri lanka will need to win one of the matches in order for India to qualify.
