Sabres slump to 9th straight loss

0

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Sabres brought their winless ways to this weekend's road trip.

Saturday night's 4-2 loss at Washington was Buffalo's ninth in a row, marking the Sabres' longest skid since setting an NHL record with an 18-game winless streak in 2021. Seven of the previous eight losses came at home.

Jason Zucker and Juri Kulich scored goals for Buffalo. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen made 27 saves as the Sabres were outshot 31-21 by the East-leading Capitals.

Tom Wilson scored twice for Washington, and Dylan Strome netted the winning goal with 8:55 remaining in the third period. Jakob Chychrun added an empty-net goal.

Buffalo went scoreless on two power-play opportunities and is now 1 for 28 over the past 11 games.

The Sabres conclude their back-to-back set Sunday in Toronto.
