SNL cold open tackled Luigi Mangione with a Nancy Grace skit
Saturday Night Live tackled current events once again with its cold open, using a Nancy Grace parody to address the arrest of Luigi Mangione. Suspected in the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, Mangione has been in the news as his mugshot spread across the internet.
Sarah Sherman played the brash news journalist Nancy Grace, and the skit addressed Mangione’s recent popularity for his looks on social media. She also had several “experts” join the program, and they played on the fact that YouTube has loud, interrupting ads with hilarious cut-ins featuring Marcello Hernandez.
