'Kraven the Hunter' Makes Worst Box Office Debut of Sony's Marvel Character Universe
Kraven the Hunter is having trouble at the box office.
The superhero spinoff starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Spider-Man villain debuted at No. 3 at the box office over the weekend with $11 million from 3,211 theaters.
This marks the worst debut for Sony’s universe of Marvel characters, behind Madame Web ($15.3 million), via Variety.

It also commands a very low 15% Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a “C” grade on CinemaScore.
It’s Sony’s third Spider-Man adaptation of the year, following Venom: The Last Dance.
Kraven cost an estimated $110 million to produce, and explores the origins of Sergei Kravinoff, the comic book character’s alter ego, including his rocky relationship with his crime lord father (Russell Crowe) and his quest to become the greatest hunter.
