'The devil is busy’: Jamie Foxx comments after altercation left him injured
LOS ANGELES (KTLA) — Jamie Foxx has issued a relatively cryptic statement in the wake of reports he was injured in an altercation at a high-end Beverly Hills restaurant Friday night.
The reported incident occurred while the actor and musician – who turned 57 on Friday – was eating with his family at Mr. Chow.
Patrons at a nearby table hurled rude and vulgar insults towards Foxx, a witness told TMZ. A representative of Foxx told the outlet that the “In Living Color” star asked the party to stop, but someone at the table allegedly threw a glass at him, striking him in the mouth.
The injury required stitches, the representative said.
Beverly Hills Police Department confirmed that officers responded to “a possible assault with a deadly weapon” at Mr. Chow, but they did not mention Foxx by name. However, officers determined the report of an assault with a deadly weapon was “unfounded” and that the situation involved “a physical altercation between parties.”
In a post to Instagram early Sunday morning, Foxx indirectly addressed the incident, saying “The devil is busy...but I’m too blessed to be stressed.”
In the caption, Foxx thanked all those who prayed for and reached out to him.
“Can’t win here...they try to bring you darkness,” the post’s caption read. “But they don’t know you’re built for it. The lights have been shining bright.”
Foxx also expressed gratitude towards everyone who has watched or been inspired by his recent Netflix comedy special “Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was...”
In the special, which was released earlier this month, Foxx also shared new details about the "medical complication" he suffered last year.
