Big jolt to England team: Test captain Ben Stokes down to the ground due to Hamstring injury
The England cricket team has faced a major blow to as their Test Captain Ben Stokes faced a hamstring injury during the ongoing Test match against New Zealand. England Cricket went on to their official X account, and confirmed that Ben injured his hamstring during the third day of final match of the series.
Ben was bowling to New Zealand’s youngster Rachin Ravindra when he suddenly held his hamstring very tightly, and had to leave the field for the necessary treatment.
The veteran all-rounder has had a fine hold of hamstring injuries throughout the year. The nature of the injury is still unknown and it is yet to be confirmed if Ben will come to bat for England in the second innings. If he remains unavailable for batting, the duration of his absence will also be unknown.
Since Ben is not in action, New Zealand has managed to put a total of 453 on the board. As they had a lead of 204 runs in the first innings, the Kiwis have handed a massive target of 658 runs to the visitors. At the end of Day 3, England were on 18/2 with 640 runs to win.
