438 infrastructure projects in India are facing a combined cost overrun of Rs 5.18 lakh crore, a 62% increase from the original estimated cost. Factors contributing to these overruns include underestimated initial costs, fluctuating exchange rates, rising land acquisition and labor costs, and increased expenses for environmental safeguards.
