After the massive fire, Notre-Dame Cathedral
has now reopened. Pictures of Paris with the cathedral in flames are still alive in our minds. Interior reconstruction took about five years; the exterior still needs some more work. Ironically, the rebuilding of Notre-Dame had also revived, finally, a much older plan to
reconstruct the second steeple of another church in Paris, Saint-Denis, which in many ways is of higher historical, artistic and religious importance than the more famous Notre-Dame.
