Squad Update | Munster Prepare For Ulster In Belfast

The Munster squad have started preparations at the HPC ahead of Saturday’s URC Round 8 clash against Ulster at the Kingspan Stadium (7.35pm, live on TG4 & Premier Sports).

There were a number of injuries sustained in Castres at the weekend.

Craig Casey suffered a meniscus injury and will see a specialist this week for knee surgery.

Thaakir Abrahams suffered a shoulder dislocation and will undergo scans this week to determine the need for surgery.

Dian Bleuler was removed after failing his HIA and is following the return to play protocols. He is not available for selection this week.

Diarmuid Barron passed his HIA and will be monitored this week following a shoulder injury. His availability will be determined later in the week.

Peter O’Mahony suffered a calf contusion and his availability will be assessed later this week.

Jean Kleyn is seeing a specialist after suffering a thigh injury last week.

Liam Coombes underwent surgery last week after sustaining a chest muscle injury in AIL action earlier this month.

Conor Murray (elbow) remains unavailable.

There were 13 Munster players in AIL action for their clubs at the weekend.

Eight players lined out in the Munster derby between Young Munster and Garryowen with the Cookies claiming a 25-24 victory.

Ruadhán Quinn was a try-scorer for Young Munster with Jake O’Riordan and Conor Bartley also featuring. Bryan Fitzgerald scored two tries for Garryowen and Dylan Hicks scored one with the out-half also kicking three conversions and a penalty. Jack Oliver, George Hadden and Ronan Foxe were also in action for Garryowen.

Danny Sheahan scored two tries for Cork Constitution as they beat UCD 38-33.

In Division 1B,  Gene O’Leary Kareem kicked two conversions and two penalties for UCC as they were beaten 34-25 by Nenagh Ormond with Seán Edogbo also lining out for the College.

Eoghan Clarke and Kieran Ryan started for Shannon as Highfield emerged with a 21-18 victory on the Thomond Park back pitch.

Continuing to rehab: Seán O’Brien (leg), Diarmuid Kilgallen (wrist), Jeremy Loughman (hip), Josh Wycherley (neck), Mark Donnelly (ankle), Patrick Campbell (shoulder), Cian Hurley (knee), Edwin Edogbo (Achilles), Roman Salanoa (knee).
