Rensselaer man charged with sexually exploiting a baby

RENSSELAER, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The U.S. Attorney's Office (USAO) reported the arrest of a Rensselaer man in connection to a sex crime investigation. Mark Tremblay, 34, was charged with sexual exploitation of a child.

Tremblay is accused of forcing a baby under the age of two to engage in sexual acts for the purpose of creating explicit images on November 13. He also allegedly shared the images online with another person, according to the USAO. He was taken into custody on December 16.

If convicted, Tremblay faces 15 to 30 years in prison, a fine of up to $250,000, and a term of probation of five years to life. He may also be ordered to pay restitution to the victim, forfeit the device used in the alleged crime, and register as a sex offender upon his release.

Tremblay was ordered to be detained following his initial court appearance on Monday. The Department of Homeland Security and New York State Police are leading the investigation.
