Watch: House Republicans hold presser as government shutdown looms

House Republican leaders held a press conference Tuesday morning with just days left until government funding lapses.

Lawmakers were expected to roll out legislative text over the weekend, but those hopes were dashed by divisions over economic assistance for farmers. Still, they signaled Monday that some progress has been made ahead of the Friday deadline to avert a government shutdown.

The continuing resolution is the last major piece of legislation Congress is expected to consider before the end of the session.
