TV Marcus Buckland reveals what he heard from someone close to Daniel Levy about what the Spurs chairman thinks about his role in the club’s current predicament.
The pressure is being turned up on Daniel Levy at Spurs
It feels like Levy is under more pressure at the moment than he has been at any time across his more than two-decade-long Spurs tenure.
That was always going to be the case if another project failed at the North London club, with many supporters feeling that he has had a huge part to play in the side’s current predicament as he has not sufficiently backed Ange Postecoglou.
According to various reports over the last week, the Spurs chairman continues to have faith in the Australian and plans on handing him the signings he wants in January so that he can turn things around.
What Levy thinks about his role in the mess
Popular TV personality Marcus Buckland, who has presented for the likes of Prime Video, BT Sport and Sky Sports, has now revealed something rather interesting about the Spurs chairman.
He took to social media to explain that he chatted with someone who is close to Levy, adding that the 62-year-old believes that he has genuinely done all he can to make the club successful.
Buckland wrote: ‘Just spoken to someone quite close to Levy. I think he genuinely believes he’s done and continues to do all he can to make Spurs successful on the pitch.’
What is ‘success’ measured by?
When one measures success based on silverware (as many fans rightly do), then Levy’s tenure has evidently not been a success, with the club having won just one trophy during that time.
However, if one measures success based on league finishes, it would be difficult to argue that Levy’s tenure has not been a success, with Tottenham having evolved from a mid-table side under Alan Sugar to now being recognised as being part of the ‘big six’.
The issue, however, is that progress was made nearly a decade ago and over the past five years, Tottenham have evidently gone backwards due to some poor decisions that the club’s chairman has made.
