TOPEKA (KSNT) - A Topeka nonprofit is receiving a substantial cash grant this week, courtesy of the U.S. Bank Foundation.
Dawn McWilliams, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Topeka (BGTC), announced in a press release on Dec. 17 that her organizations has received a $20,000 grant from the U.S. Bank Foundation. She said the grant will help push the club to a new level of both exposure and experience in art programming for children and teenagers through a partnership with the Mulvane Art Museum.
"Creating equitable opportunities for our community requires resources, and we appreciate the support from the U.S. Bank Foundation, which helps us continue to build and expand the innovative programs we're proud to offer," McWilliams said.
The BGTC's enhanced arts programming format is designed to give youths a pathway towards creative exploration, cultural understanding and personal expression. The BGTC, alongside the Mulvane Art Museum, will give local children and teenagers access to professional art education, curated exhibits and hands-on activities.
"All of us deserve to experience the joy we receive from opportunities to play, create and immerse in arts and culture. We're proud to invest in organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of Topeka to help more people access the benefits of art and cultural programming and make our communities stronger and more vibrant," said Terry R. Dickey, community affairs manager at U.S. Bank.
The BGTC's mission is to help young people become caring, productive and responsible citizens. You can learn more about the organization's work in the community by clicking here.
