Funds increased for
ADA-related projects

The City Council has approved a $150,000 increase in an agreement with a maintenance contractor, bringing the potential outlay to $250,000.

The company, Natalini Industries LLC, is one of several that provides on-call maintenance services for the city, according to a staff report by civil engineer Elisa Sarlatte. The company has been working projects involving Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.

The company already has contract for up to $100,000 for work at the municipal complex on Sherman Avenue, Sarlatte said. The additional funding will cover work related to the upgrades at Hoog Park. The funds come from the American Rescue Plan Act.

Police arrest driver
who struck parked cars

Police arrested a DUI suspect who allegedly struck several parked vehicles.

Authorities were alerted about the incident around 2:40 a.m. Sunday near the corner of Redwood Boulevard and Lamont Avenue.

A Honda minivan driver hit four cars while driving on northbound Redwood Boulevard, police said Tuesday. The suspect’s rear passenger door was dislodged in the crash, police said. Officers took the suspect into custody after he was medically cleared at a local hospital.

Jose Alfredo Baeza Cruz, 28, of Novato was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

He was released from custody at the Marin County Jail Sunday after he was given an order to appear in court, sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn said. The suspect could not be reached for comment.

Kaiser to move
select services

Kaiser Permanente will relocate some services from its Novato location, the health care provider said.

The Novato Medical Office at 97 San Marin Drive will remain open. Select departments will move to nearby Kaiser locations “that will offer members access to spacious, modern facilities, cutting-edge equipment, co-located specialty care services, and convenient amenities such as covered parking and on-site food and beverages,” according to an emailed statement.

Services will not be interrupted, the statement said. A representative did not respond to questions about which departments would relocate, where they would go, or when the move would occur.

The Novato location includes doctors’ offices, a pharmacy, a laboratory, radiology and imaging services.
