Traceability becomes table stakes for AI
In its third year, generative AI’s potential as a force for good will become clearer — but only if trust, traceability and transparency come to the fore. If we are to reap the rewards that AI can afford us, we will need to be able to source the origin of information down to the very last word. That level of transparency will also be the foundation for fair and proper content use and compensation for publishers.
In 2025, we will undoubtedly see governments around the world introduce more robust AI policies and regulation. However, in the absence of a consistent global standard, the onus is on content creators to define an approach that puts journalistic integrity first and ensures that intellectual property rights are upheld.
As a publisher and arbiter for media organizations globally, Dow Jones has a dual responsibility — and alongside our industry peers, we will continue to advocate for clearer guardrails that protect journalism in this new era.
