Mayor of Kingstown Renewed for Season 4
Mayor of Kingstown is returning for Season 4 despite a near-perfect ending that suggested Mike had come to terms with his actions.

Consider me shocked.
As a Pittsburgh resident, I thought everyone already knew that Mayor of Kingstown had been renewed. They’ve been casting here for a while.
I was certain I missed the renewal when I was on a Hallmark cruise. Well, I was wrong. I’m so sorry to keep you lovelies in the dark. Mike McClusky will be back for more!
Part of my surprise rests with the fact I thought it was common knowledge, but the other part comes from the near-perfect wrap-up at the end of Mayor of Kingstown Season 3.
It was an incredibly well-thought-out finale with all of the vengeance and goodbyes you’d expect from any good drama, let alone one from Taylor Sheridan.
Sheridan’s reach is incredible.
He’s also become the most important asset to Paramount+, with Tulsa King, 1923, Lioness, and more, in addition to Kingstown.
But what can we expect from this particular story?
Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 Episode 10 revealed just how deeply corrupt even the good guys had gotten in Kingstown.
Pain is the through point in Kingstown. Mental anguish and physical scars bear down upon its citizens as effectively as the prison system that keeps it afloat.
Good people do very bad things in Kingstown, placing them neck and neck with the bad people they try to curtail.
Relationships like Mike’s with Bunny show the importance of keeping your enemies closer to solve larger problems.
But how long will that last? Kingstown is small, and it’s been collapsing under the weight of its burdens for a long time.
Jeremy Renner endured physical hell to return as Mike McClusky for the third season, and his performance confirmed his commitment to the story.
Mike’s monologues at the beginning and the end of the finale would have allowed the show to go out on a high note, but it makes just as much sense that he’d be forced to carry on with the damed-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don’t job he’s taken on to keep others safe.
Mike seemed at peace with his decisions. Will another season mean he falters in his acceptance of his actions and opens him for more pain?
For now, we don’t have any theories about where the story could go next. Maybe you do.
Let us know in the comments below if this is a good move or if you wish Mike had finally had a chance to rest.
