Spurs supporters are uniting against Daniel Levy

Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, is used to being criticised for how he runs the club, but calls for him to sell his shares have never been louder than now.

Recently a number of initiatives to improve the atmosphere at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, called Return of the Shelf, THFC Flags and Spurs Song Sheet, have all made the decision to disassociate with the club. Also, a group of supporters have organised a protest against the club’s hierarchy next Sunday when Spurs take on Liverpool.

But songs sung during Tottenham’s 5-0 thrashing of Southampton is likely to be what Levy will have noticed the most, as he was in attendance. One chant in particular which occurred throughout the match had the lyrics: “I don’t care about Levy, he don’t care about me, all I care about is Kulusevski!”

Ange Postecoglou refuses to condemn Tottenham fans protesting Daniel Levy

Postecoglou has already tried to play down questions over Tottenham’s support this season when he was verbally abused after his side’s 1-0 defeat to Bournemouth and he is not interested in criticising their protests against the Lilywhites chairman.

Instead, he has called on Spurs supporters to get behind his team as they take on Manchester United in the Carabao Cup quarter-final.

When asked in his press conference for his reaction to fans making their feelings known about Levy against Southampton, Postecoglou said: “That’s for the supporters, mate, I’ve said a million times, it’s up to them to express what they want to express but hopefully they got to enjoy the other night, it was a special performance, especially the first 45 minutes.

“Tomorrow night, I have spoken about the atmosphere at Ibrox and Galatasaray and how I’d like that to be our atmosphere because it would certainly help us overcome a tough opponent in a really big game.” (FootballLondon)

Ange Postecoglou is right to focus on the football

If Postecoglou applauds Tottenham’s supporters for protesting Levy, he will be out of a job in no time. However, if he calls them out, he will lose their backing and risk causing unrest in his team, so he has made the right decision not to get drawn in on the matter.

Right now, whether someone is Levy in or Levy out, it is important to get behind Postecoglou and his team as they play their biggest match of the season so far.
