Iota man arrested, charged with Texas ATV thefts
JENNINGS, La. (KLFY) -- An Iota man has been arrested and charged with stealing 5 ATVs and a trailer in Texas, authorities said.
Jamarcus Dwayne Williams, 31, of Iota, is charged with five counts of illegal possession of stolen things.
The Clay County (Texas) Sheriff's Office responded Dec. 12 to a report that 5 ATVs were stolen overnight from HE Powersports in Henrietta, Texas. The combined total loss of property was reported as over $150,000.
Detectives identified Williams as a possible suspect and requested assistance from the Louisiana State Police, who located Williams on Saturday, officials said.
Louisiana State Police detectives located and recovered all five stolen ATVs and a stolen 40-foot flatbed trailer, valued at approximately $30,000, used during the crime, authorities said.
Williams was booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Correctional Center. Bond details were not released. Williams will also face additional charges in Clay County, Texas, officials said.
