Lucas Bergvall has had to be patient and bide his time since his move to Spurs in the summer, with most of the midfielder’s minutes coming in the Europa League so far this season.

After a lacklustre start to his time in North London, the 18-year-old is now coming into his own, seemingly getting better with each outing.

The teenager was handed his first Premier League start of the season at St Mary’s on Sunday, and he passed the test with flying colours, delivering an accomplished display as Tottenham emerged 5-0 winners.

Tottenham owe Djurgardens a Lucas Bergvall bonus payment

According to a report in Fotboll Direkt (as translated by Sport Witness), Tottenham now owe Bergvall‘s former club, Djurgardens, a sizable bonus after he made his first Premier League start.

The report explains that the fee agreed between the two clubs involved a fixed portion of €9.8m (£8.1m) but also included further add-ons worth €9.3m (£7.6m).

Among those bonuses, one of the agreements was that the Swedish club would be owed around €3.5m (£2.8m) when Bergvall made his first Premier League start, with Tottenham thus expected to make that payment after he did so on Sunday.

Spurs will be happy to pay the full bonus fee

Tottenham would be happy to pay the full add-ons worth £7.6m over the coming years as that will mean that Bergvall has fulfilled his potential at the North London club.

While it is still early days for the midfielder, it is evident that Spurs have a gem on their hands, and Postecoglou will believe that he can bring the best out of the youngster.
