Jeff Bezos Finally Scored a Date With Trump
On Wednesday, after months of sucking up to Donald Trump, Jeff Bezos finally scored a dinner date at Mar-a-Lago. According to the Daily Mail, Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sánchez, were seen “greeting guests” at Mar-a-Lago before breaking bread with Trump and — in a shocking turn of events — Melania.
Bezos’s chummy relationship with the president-elect comes as no surprise. In October, the same day that officials from his aerospace company met with Trump, he blocked the newspaper he owns, the Washington Post, from endorsing Kamala Harris. Once Trump won the election, he posted a cozy congratulatory message on X, declaring that “no nation has bigger opportunities” and wishing Trump “all success in leading and uniting the America we all love.” The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Bezos plans to donate $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund.
And now, it seems Trump is finally reciprocating all these friendly gestures. Bezos is the last of the big-tech execs to make it into these hallowed halls — Mark Zuckerberg dined at Mar-a-Lago in November, and Elon Musk has, of course, been a permanent fixture by Trump’s side since the election. According to the Daily Beast, Bezos and Trump were hitting it off Wednesday night until Musk plopped himself down at the table and “cockblocked” Bezos.
Trump, though, seems to feel everything went swimmingly. He wrote on Truth Social Thursday morning, “EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE MY FRIEND!!!”
