My son says dolls I bought for granddaughter are ‘too sexualised’

DEAR DEIDRE: I SPENT a fortune on dolls for my granddaughter, but my son says I can’t give them to her for Christmas as they’re “sexualised”.

My granddaughter is seven. My wife and I are 61 and have her after school every afternoon because my son and his wife work.

I asked her what she hoped to get from Father Christmas, and she said she’d love a doll from this range we’d seen on telly.

I bought the full set but when I told my son, he said the dolls were too “sexual” because they wear short skirts and make-up.

She had her heart set on them.

You and your son have to agree on childcare issues or it will be very confusing for your granddaughter.

Have you checked the age range for the dolls you bought?

I suspect they are one popular range I know of wich is aimed at children eight to 14, so perhaps these would be a little old for her.

Talk to your son about acceptable toys and indulge her with those.
