Missing person found after fatal fall on Black Mountain

DRESDEN, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Washington County Sheriff's Office is investigating an incident on Black Mountain in Dresden that fatally injured a missing person out of Castleton, Vermont. Deputies said they received calls about the missing person's vehicle at the Black Mountain trailhead on Sunday.

Deputies, New York State Forest Rangers, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, and volunteers hiked the mountain and found them. A preliminary investigation determined the person fell off the edge of a ledge and succumbed to the injuries sustained in the fall.

Deputies said the person was pronounced dead on the scene by the Washington County Coroner's Office and transported to Glens Falls Hospital. Stay with NEWS10 as more information becomes available.
