Hunter On "Brilliant" Performances & Win
Siobhan Hunter is thrilled to have earned a "thoroughly deserved three points" in the Hibees' final outing of 2024.
The centre-back played a crucial role defensively in securing the 3-0 victory over Rangers at Broadwood Stadium on Sunday evening.
With a Kathleen McGovern brace and a sublime Rosie Livingstone strike, all that was left to do was hold on to a precious, coveted clean sheet - something Hunter was extremely keen to maintain personally.
"It’s massive [to keep a clean sheet]," she told Hibs TV following the match.
"The goals they’ve scored, it’s a hell of a lot of numbers. To score three, but to also concede none on our side, is great for me as a defender and as a whole squad.
"When the third goal went in, the first thing that was said was ‘keep the clean sheet’. It’s something we really wanted to do and we done that."
It was a wholly team effort out there at a blustery Broadwood, as every player worked their socks off to not only hold onto an early first-half lead but to also build on it.
Scoring a second, then a third, as time wound down was largely made possible by the excellent defensive duties carried out by Hunter & Co. at the back.
"Today, I thought, to a player, we were excellent," Hunter commented. "Every single player was brilliant, even if they came on.
"Even those who didn’t come on, we are a real team here. I think we thoroughly deserved the three points today.
"We go into every game wanting to win, but that doesn’t mean you are guaranteed to win. You need to put on a performance and I think we done that."
The girls were backed by a vocal away travelling support throughout the 90 and were well serenaded by the jubilant Hibees support come full-time.
"It’s huge," said Shiv. "Going into this tough game, it could turn your Christmas a bit sour if you get beat but we managed to get the three points.
"The fans who came out today were brilliant and hopefully we’ve sent them home happy with three points just before Christmas."
