The pre-holiday market remains active.

Good morning everyone! Yesterday had a lot of activity around the league, with much of it coming while you were likely asleep. Let’s get to it.

In Mariners news...

  • Paul Casella wonders if Ichiro will become the second player in MLB history to be inducted unanimously into the Hall of Fame.

Around the league...

  • The Nationals swiped a first baseman of their own in an active market for the position, acquiring Nathaniel Lowe from the Rangers for left-hander Robert García.
  • Late last night, the Mets inked left-handed starter Sean Manaea to a three-year contract.
  • And in the wee hours of the morning, Joc Pederson signed a one-year deal with the Rangers.
  • Also this morning, the Red Sox signed right-hander Walker Buehler to a one-year contract (pending a physical).
  • Longtime first baseman/outfielder Wil Myers has announced his retirement from the sport.
  • Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. and the Blue Jays are discussing a contract extension, though the first baseman says a deal will have to be reached before spring training if they want to hang onto him.
